CROYDE’S FAMOUS FREEHOUSE!
A North Devon institution. The Thatch is the busiest and liveliest pub in the area and known for their eclectic mix of surf loving locals and large number of regular visitors to the area.
The Thatch is one of the most traditional looking Croyde pubs you can find with its low ceilings and wooden beams. The bar stocks traditional, hand-pumped ales and there’s a fireplace for winter days.
The bar features plenty of local ales on tap as well as international lagers on draft. The ales usually feature one from North Devon and then more from the South West region. They also have a large gin selection, which you can pair with a quality tonic.
Although the pub is steeped in tradition, The Thatch regularly plays surfing videos in the background on wall-mounted TV’s and they chalk the daily sea conditions onto a surf board.
The menu features pub classics including juicy Exmoor beef burgers and the pub’s famous nachos, as well as locally caught fish specials. The Sri Lankan fish curry is particularly good, though at the pricier end of the menu. In the winter months, they do a midweek ‘two meals for £16’ deal.
The Manor is one of Croyde’s best country pubs with regular sports coverage including rugby and football matches, and it has an outdoor play area to keep the kids entertained.
The 17th Century Inn has a wide-ranging menu from soup to curries, beef and vegetarian burgers, and standard pub fare. The popular Croyde pub is well known for their Sunday roast, which is served all day.
The Manor has both indoor and outdoor seating as well as a good selection of beer and wine.
A cosy Croyde pub with an eclectic wooden interior, leather chairs and lived-in feel. You’ll find a mixture of friendly locals and relaxed visitors alike, all enjoying award winning food and great beers. A pub for the foodies in the family.
At the front of the The Kings Arms there is a small beer patio with views of the surrounding countryside. It’s one of the most welcoming Croyde pubs and a great spot for relaxing.
The menu incorporates the best of British and uses a lot of local ingredients. The homemade pies are a particular favourite, and they do a fantastic Sunday roast too. The Kings Arms is well worth a stop in at any time, but especially after a long walk and on cold evenings.
Another fantastic foodie pub, The Rock Inn at Georgeham offers some more refined culinary dishes alongside traditional pub food. From doorstep sandwiches and ale pie to pheasant terrine, River Fowey mussels, slow roasted lamb shoulder and vegetarian and vegan options, plus a well stocked kids’ menu, there’s something for everyone.
Behind the bar they have classic ales and bitters on tap, and a combination of regular and premium lagers.
The Rock Inn has indoor and outdoor seating as well as a roaring fireplace in the winter. There’s a few parking places outside the front of the pub, but if that is full you can park in Georgeham village car park and make the short walk up.
A family friendly pub, Billy Budds is located in the centre of Croyde village and has a casual menu featuring a large variety of items from pizza to tapas.
In Billy Budd’s you’ll find a mix of families as well as some of the younger locals and surf instructors too. They show sports inside and have a playground for the children and a car park out the back of the pub.
They have a pool table in the main bar at certain times of year.
