When people think of a family holiday or staycation in the UK, the first place that often comes to mind is Devon. It remains a popular choice, and for good reason! Even though there are many wonderful spots to explore, we maintain that Croyde has an extra something special that makes it the perfect family friendly holiday destination in North Devon. Here’s why..

The Beach

The first and most obvious reason to visit Croyde is its world class surfing and family-friendly beach. A perfect haven for families with children of all ages, with rolling sand dunes and plenty of rockpools to explore. It also has RNLI lifeguards from the end of March – September for added safety. Lifeguards are also present during October weekends and October half term  where you can expect beautiful autumnal evenings and pleasantly warm water temperatures. Surfing lessons are also available for all ages and abilities, so the whole family can get involved.

Croyde Bay Accommodation

At Croyde Bay Resort, we’ve done everything we can to make the resort the perfect base for families. We appreciate that one size does not fit all – which is why we offer lots of different accommodation options, including self-catering and dog-friendly accommodation. Our onsite facilities keep children entertained for hours and include table tennis, tennis courts, a brand new playground and crazy golf course, bowls, a nature trail and more. There is also our ever popular onsite swimming pool complex for you to enjoy during your stay. All of these activities are included for free with your stay.

Attractions

There are so many things to do locally that you may have a hard time fitting it all in! Our favourite picks are The Milky Way which has a great selection of rides for the thrill-seekers and The Big Sheep, a perfect option for animal lovers, which also has a huge selection of outdoor-based activities. In addition to the many water sports on offer in the area, coasteering is an increasingly popular way to explore the coastlines numerous hidden sea caves and cliffs with an experienced guide.

Local Nature

Reconnecting with nature is a wonderful way to spend quality time together as a family and get away from the computer and phone screens. Being based in the Croyde area for your holiday means you’re only a short trip away from some fantastic local spots including the stunning Lundy Island, Baggy Point, Exmoor, The Tarka Trail and Quince Honey Farm.

Food & Drink

Finding somewhere that everyone wants to eat can be tricky, especially if you have mixed age ranges to cater for. Luckily Croyde has a great selection of pubs and restaurants in the area with excellent children’s menus and service. Our resort menu has recently been completely revamped with some exciting dishes and family friendly options – these have been a big hit with guests this year. Our favourite family friendly pubs and restaurants include The Thatch and The Manor House Inn, which has it’s own playground too!
